About this campsite

Athabasca Pass backcountry camping in Jasper National Park follows a historic fur trade route. Six remote campsites managed by Parks Canada require reservations.

Athabasca Pass is a backcountry camping area in Jasper National Park managed by Parks Canada, following the historic fur trade route along the Whirlpool River Valley through the Rocky Mountains. The remote trail becomes increasingly rugged beyond Whirlpool Campground as it stretches toward the west park boundary, with some unbridged river crossings that can be dangerous during high water. The area offers primitive backcountry camping with six campsites available. Maintenance priority is medium to Whirlpool and low beyond. Reservations are required for backcountry camping in Jasper National Park.
