Lake McLeod Rest Area is a generously spaced, highly frequented overnight spot on the western part of the highway. Its landscape, adorned with scattered, low-lying trees, doesn't offer considerable shade but adds to the overall scenic appeal of this level gravel, drive-through arrangement. The rest area has a noticeable amount of red dust and close proximity to the road, which brings with it some degree of traffic noise.
