This rest area is noted for its proximity to Tingoora Hotel ‘The Tinny Pub’, known for its homely environment and quality food. Also, given Tingoora's Aboriginal heritage meaning 'Home of the Koala' or 'Place of Wattle Trees', it's an ideal stop for nature lovers. The spot also has alternative facilities at a day rest area on the main highway.

The area is a seldom used unfenced sports oval/showgrounds down from the Tingoora Hotel 'TheTinny Pub'. Facilities include a rustic shelter shed and Toilets. The name Tingoora is said to be of Aboriginal origin meaning "Home of the Koala" or "Place of Wattle Trees". The Tinny is an institution in the South Burnett, It boasts a drive-through bottleshop, colorful public bar, ice cold beer and honest meals. If the toilets here are closed for repairs, there are some at the day rest area on the main highway.

How to Get There

At Waypoint (opposite Tingoora Hotel) turn south-east into Tingoora-Charlestown Road and proceed approx 300m to Rest Area.
