Gladstone and the Capricorn Coast sit on the central Queensland coast around the Tropic of Capricorn. Gladstone is a major harbour city and a departure point for the southern Great Barrier Reef — Heron, Wilson and Lady Musgrave Islands — while nearby Yeppoon, Great Keppel Island, the Capricorn Coast beaches and Byfield National Park round out a laid-back tropical region.
