Shenandoah & Blue Ridge

Shenandoah National Park runs 105 miles along Virginia's Blue Ridge, its four campgrounds — Big Meadows, Loft Mountain, Lewis Mountain and Mathews Arm — strung directly off Skyline Drive. George Washington and Jefferson national forests flank the ridge with quieter first-come camps. Autumn colour weekends are the peak; most campgrounds close November through March.
