Post the 2013 highway bypass, the park has seen remarkable improvements, turning it into a fantastic free overnight rest zone. The new gravel driveway introduced recently aids easier off-road turns, particularly for large rigs heading south. The park also extends under the overhead bridge to the other side of the old highway, leading up to the river bank. Adding to the park's utility is a newly constructed accessible toilet block, located just a 3-minute walk away in town, across the bridge.
