Mooraback Campground is a picturesque spot renowned for its close encounters with kangaroos and platypus. It features a serene camping area on the western edge of a clearing, and is the starting point for two captivating trails. The Mooraback Trail offers a short, enjoyable loop walk, while the slightly longer Platypus Pools walk presents a 6km loop along the upper reaches of the Hastings River, a perfect platypus sighting spot.

Mooraback campground, located on the clear western edge, offers the remarkable opportunity to interact with local kangaroos that regularly visit the area. A popular attraction is the Mooraback Trail. This short loop walk, originating from the campground, provides a unique nature experience. In addition, the Platypus Pools walk is a must-try experience that starts right from the camping area. This immersive 6km loop walks you along the upper reaches of the Hastings River – a habitat famous for platypus sighting. How to Get There

Access via Kangaroo Flat Road from Oxley Highway, or via Racecourse Trail from Brushy Mountain (4WD vehicle required). The camping area is at the end of Mooraback Road. The route from the Oxley Highway includes unpaved roads, suitable for standard 2WD vehicles.
