Phil Schaffert Bridge Rest Area

Howitt, QLD

About this campsite

The Phil Schaffert Bridge Rest Area is a significant camping site that previously featured BBQ areas and sanitary facilities. Historically, this plot was known for its link to a large area intersecting with Burke Development Road and Kurumba Road. This site boasts its neighbouring Walkers Creek, which hosts crocodiles and presumably diverse fish life. The Bridge carries a legacy of the late Phil Schaffert, who dedicated over 20 years to serve the Carpentaria Shire Council.

There is a further large area which links to this site and with access from the intersection of the Burke Development Road and the Kurumba Road. There are crocs in Walkers Creek, so presumably there are fish as well. The bridge was named after the late Phil Schaffert who served on the Carpentaria Shire Council for more than 20 years.
